Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

Beautiful black sand beach, powerful waves, and the nearby Reynisdrangar sea stacks make Reynisfjara a truly unique place to visit and a popular filming location (Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Noah and more).

The Cave

Basalt

The most well-known volcanic rock found in Iceland is basalt, but there are at least 25 different types on the island.

Volcanic rock

Reynisfjara is located near a large volcano that erupted several times during the last thousand years.

They are formed when lava cools down quickly. As the effect of the sudden cooling, the rock starts to contract from the edges in symmetric, geometrical shapes.

Garðar columnar basalt formations

Reynisfjara is known as one of the most dangerous places in Iceland.

Always keep a safe distance from the water and never turn your back to the sea. Do not climb over the basalt columns.

Lopapeysa

Authentic Icelandic Wool Sweaters keeps you warm and comfortable.

It is characterized by a yoke design – that is, a wide decorative circle surrounding the neck opening. The sweater is knitted in a non-varying circle, meaning that there is no difference between the front and the back.

Vík í Mýrdal

The village of Vík is the southernmost village in Iceland, located on the main ring road around the island.

Vík lies directly south of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, which itself is on top of the Katla volcano.

The town's church, located high on a hill, is believed to be the only building that would survive such a flood.
